چکیده
Aerodynamic prediction of glaze-ice accretion on airfoils and wings is studied using the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes method. Two separation fixed turbulence models are developed by considering nonequilibrium characteristics turbulence. The key ad hoc fix a term local ratio turbulent production to dissipation, which used amplify destruction equation increase eddy viscosity in separating shear layer fully region. A stress limiter adopted appropriately simulate beginning process transition when under development. proposed terms can be easily implemented into current solvers. case flat-plate, periodic hill, two iced three-dimensional swept wing with ice accretions numerically tested modified models. results indicate that fixes improve ability predicting stall behavior at large angles attack. simulated averaged flowfield intensity distribution consistent experimental data.

Direct numerical simulation of salt sheets and turbulence in a double-diffusive shear layer
[1] We describe three-dimensional direct numerical simulations (DNS) of double-diffusively stratified flow interacting with inflectional shear. The extreme difference in diffusivity (and thus minimum length scale) between heat, salt and momentum in seawater is replicated for the first time in a three-dimensional simulation. The primary instability generates salt sheets, which are oriented paral...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Separation Bubble on Elliptic Cylinders Using Three-equation k-? Turbulence Model
Occurrence of laminar separation bubbles on solid walls of an elliptic cylinder has been simulated using a recently developed transitional model for boundary layer flows. Computational method is based on the solution of the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and the eddy-viscosity concept. Transitional model tries to simulate streamwise fluctuations, induced by freestream turbulen...
متن کاملThe performance of an iced aircraft wing
The goal of this thesis work has been to develop and manufacture an ice layer which was to be mounted on the tip of a scaled down wing model. The iced wing should be tested in a wind tunnel and aerodynamic comparisons should be made to the same wing without ice. The development of the ice was carried out as a modified product development process. The main differences are that there is no costum...
متن کاملProbing Physics of Magnetohydrodynamic Turbulence Using Direct Numerical Simulation
The energy spectrum and the nolinear cascade rates of MHD turbulence is not clearly understood. We have addressed this problem using direct numerical simulation and analytical calculations. Our numerical simulations indicate that Kolmogorov-like phenomenology with k energy spectrum, rather than Kraichnan’s k, appears to be applicable in MHD turbulence. Here, we also construct a self-consistent ...
متن کاملInternal combustion engines in cylinder flow simulation improvement using nonlinear k-ε turbulence models
The purpose of this paper is to studying nonlinear k-ε turbulence models and its advantages in internal combustion engines, since the standard k-ε model is incapable of representing the anisotropy of turbulence intensities and fails to express the Reynolds stresses adequately in rotating flows. Therefore, this model is not only incapable of expressing the anisotropy of turbulence in an engine c...
